The rental market has long been shrouded in mystery. Tenants often sign leases without knowing what they're really getting into. To help tenants overcome that, we aimed to create a platform where real experiences are shared, helping tenants make informed decisions about their next home.

To address the long-standing lack of transparency in the rental market, we partnered with Past Tenants to design and build a cloud-native web platform that empowers renters to share honest, first-hand experiences of properties they have lived in while supporting secure and seamless lease transfers. The challenge was to create a trusted environment for user-generated content without sacrificing usability, requiring strong verification, moderation, and spam prevention alongside an intuitive review and browsing experience. We delivered a scalable solution using Next.js and TypeScript, with Supabase handling real-time data and authentication, Tailwind CSS ensuring a clean and responsive interface, and AI-assisted tools guiding users to write high-quality, authentic reviews. Deployed on Vercel for performance and scalability, the platform brings clarity and confidence to the renting journey by giving prospective tenants real insight into properties and helping transform an opaque market into a more transparent, community-driven ecosystem.
